Meka B. Ward

PERSONAL BACKGROUND
Meka B. Ward is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1998. Ms. Ward is a member of the Bar of Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court. She is also a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Defense of Drinking Drivers Group, Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, the Atlanta Bar Association and Lamar Inn of Courts.

EXPERIENCE
Ms. Ward joined CHESTNEY-HAWKINS in November of 2003. Prior to devoting her practice to defending driving under the influence cases, Ms. Ward served as judicial law clerk for one year, and a DUI prosecutor for four years in the metropolitan Atlanta area. As a prosecutor, she served as lead counsel in several hundred bench and numerous jury trials, and personally handled several appeals.

EDUCATION
Spelman College (B.A., 1994); University of Miami School of Law (J.D., 1997).

SEMINARS
Ms. Ward has lectured at the Forsyth Training Center on Courtroom Presentation and Demeanor, and was recently featured on Kiss 104.1 F.M. discussing DUI-related issues. She has appeared as a speaker at the annual ICLE Seminar on License Revocation and Suspension.
