Atlanta City Council Members Andrea Boone and Michael Julian Bond Release Statement Following Passing of Former City Solicitor’s Office Special Investigator Marcel L. Reed
Atlanta City Council members Andrea Boone and Michael Julian Bond released the following statement after the passing of former City of Atlanta Solicitor’s Office special investigator and City of East Point Council member Marcel L. Reed:
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague Marcel Reed. He was a man who was a selfless public servant and lived a life contributing to his community. We were fortunate to work with him and watched him operate with commitment alongside his friend former Council member C.T. Martin. We offer our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”
The Atlanta City Council is the chief policy-making body for the City of Atlanta. It acts by considering and enacting all laws that govern the City. The council also approves the operating and capital budgets for the City as recommended by the mayor, and it continually monitors revenues and expenditures for local government operations. The Atlanta City Council reviews and has final say on many land-use and zoning matters. Major economic development projects for the City also fall under the council’s consideration.
